Chelsea would be reluctant to send defender Trevoh Chalobah to Inter on loan until they get the signing of another defender wrapped up to replace him.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that whilst the Blues would be willing to loan out the 23-year-old they’d wish to wait until they’ve lined up his replacement, and that it could be up to the player himself to convince his club to complete the deal.

Inter are pursuing Chalobah as their final signing of the summer transfer window, as they see the Englishman as having the right profile to complete their defensive depth following the departure of Andrea Ranocchia, and on loan he would not weigh much on them financially.

The Englishman does not look to feature prominently in Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel’s plans after spending their three opening Premier League matches on the bench, and could push for a loan to Inter where he would potentially receive more playing time.

At the moment, however, the Blues are still waiting to get a deal wrapped up for one more defensive signing before they would be ready to loan out the 23-year-old.
