Former Juventus and Bolgona midfielder Giancarlo Marocchi believes that while Inter are the strongest team in Serie A in his view, they could use more quality to beat opposition defenders one-on-one.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Marocchi named the Nerazzurri as the strongest team in Italy right now but also echoed a sentiment that former defender Beppe Bergomi has stated on several occasions that they lack many players who can unlock games through dribbling.

Inter have no shortage of technical quality in their squad, with the first touch and passing ability of virtually the entire starting eleven as well as several backup players allowing them to execute the possession-based style favoured by coach Simone Inzaghi well.

However, one area in which the team does not really excel is in making the most of one-on-one situations, as apart from the notable exception of forward Joaquin Correa, there are few players who can regularly get past their marker.

“Inter are strong, I think they’re stronger than all the other teams in Serie A,” Marocchi said. “The only difficulty I think they have his keeping all their players in top condition.”

“Because as Bergomi has said, Inter don’t have many players who can beat a man one-on-one,” he continued. “They have players with different characteristics instead.”
