The Curva Nord have released an official statement confirming that they will not oppose Inter signing Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi on loan.

Released on the Nord’s official site, as reported by FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri ultras group made clear that despite many fans of the club having made their feelings clear that Acerbi is not a player they want to see signed, the Nord’s stance is that they will let the club do the business they see as right.

Acerbi is reportedly one of the main names on Inter’s list of possible defensive reinforcements as they seek to bring in one final signing to bolster the depth of the backline before the summer transfer window closes.

The 34-year-old has been the source of some controversy, however, particularly related to his past with AC Milan and the fact that he appeared to be smiling after the Rossoneri scored a late winner against Lazio which proved to be a key moment in the title race.

For their part, however, the Nord will not take any action to oppose Acerbi’s signing, as they write that “We clarify that the Curva Nord, unlike what some have claimed recently, is not putting any pressure on Inter on how to finish the transfer window.”

“We trust our managers,” the statement continues, “they know what they have to do and how to do their job. When we have had something to say we’ve always done so through our usual channels.”
