Talks between Inter, Lazio, and Francesco Acerbi regarding a possible loan deal for the 34-year-old are currently on standby as the Nerazzurri wait to see whether Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah becomes available.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, who report that the Nerazzurri are still hoping that the Blues will sign Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana which would open the door for Chalobah to leave on loan.

Inter would be able to get a deal done for Acerbi quickly after the talks that have taken place over the past week or so, but they still do not see him as the priority target and would prefer to sign Chalobah instead.

Securing the 23-year-old on loan would almost certainly require that Chelsea bring in Fofana as his replacement, but if this were to happen then the Premier League side would be open to a deal.

For now, the Nerazzurri are waiting to see if anything changes with Chalobah’s situation before they finish up a deal for Acerbi.
