Italian journalist Riccardo Trevisani believes that criticism of Inter striker Romelu Lukaku tends to look silly given that the Belgian just continues to continue to show his quality on the pitch.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, Trevisani noted that in his first two matches back in an Inter shirt, the 29-year-old has already notched a goal and an assist, and suggested that this is indicative of his undeniable class.

Lukaku has come back to Inter with a lot to prove considering how things didn’t quite go according to plan during his single season back in the Premier League with Chelsea following a big money move last summer.

Whilst early signs are positive, his new adventure with the Nerazzurri has barely begun, and he still has some doubters, including former Lazio and West Ham United striker Paolo Di Canio who had suggested that the Belgian is a good striker but not an elite one.

However, Trevisani feels that there is no point trying to criticize Lukaku when he will only end up responding on the pitch.

“Every now and then someone likes to doubt or challenge him,” he said. “He has a goal and an assist already after two matches, it’s as if Inter always start 1-0 up with him.”

“It’s like we’re on a game show with cameras behind the scenes capturing our reactions,” he added, dismissing criticisms of Lukaku, “the criticisms of Lukaku are absurd.”

Of the Nerazzurri’s work in the transfer market this summer, Trevisani said that “They’ve lost Perisic, but Lukaku has arrived, so I think they’re better than last season.”
