Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi is Inter’s third-choice target to reinforce the backline before the summer transfer window closes.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who report that the Nerazzurri still consider Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah and Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji to be higher priorities than the 34-year-old.

Inter would almost certainly be able to wrap up a deal to sign Acerbi on loan quickly, after the past week or so of talks between the Nerazzurri, Lazio, and the player’s agent Federico Pastorello have led to near-complete agreement.

However, the Nerazzurri continue to hold back on wrapping up a deal for Acerbi, and the reason is that they are still waiting to see what happens with Chalobah and Akanji.

Both are higher-priority targets than Acerbi, and so Inter will only make the deal with Lazio in the event that they are certain that they won’t be able to convince either Chelsea or Dortmund on one of their main choices.
