Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed that there is no buyback option included in the deal which saw striker Andrea Pinamonti join the Neroverdi from Inter.

Speaking at Pinamonti’s unveiling as a Sassuolo player, as reported by FCInterNews, Carnevali talked about the signing and explaining that there is no clause in the deal which would allow the Nerazzurri to buy the 23-year-old back for a predetermined fee.

Pinamonti joined Sassuolo earlier this month, with a number of clubs both inside of Italy and abroad having been interested in his signature but the Emilians having been the ones to both convince the player and meet Inter’s asking price for him.

The 23-year-old really broke out last season on loan at Empoli, and Sassuolo will be hoping that he can continue along this trajectory, whilst they also have invested in him for the future and have no arrangement that would allow Inter to sign him back, according to their CEO.

“Andrea is a player we’ve been chasing for some time,” Carnevali admiited, “he’s someone who we consider a very important player in our team.

“We expect a lot also by virtue of the investment we’ve made in him,” he continued, which is always an important factor for a team like Sassuolo, but this mustn’t be a burden for him.”

“Rather, it has to make him understand how much we value him as a player and as a person, because when a club like ours invests a certain amount in a player it says something about them as a footballer and also as a person,” he added.

“Our goal is to allow players to grow and then sell them to big clubs,” Carnevali continued, “be it Inter or someone else, we’ll see. There’s no agreement on a buyback with Inter.”
