Former Lecce and Spezia Sporting Director Mauro Meluso believes that Inter remain a very strong team even in spite of the fact that they failed to sign Bremer from Torino.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, Meluso gave the view that the Nerazzurri remain as solid as ever despite missing out on a player who had been widely reported to be their main defensive target.

Inter’s interest in signing Bremer had never been any secret, with reports having long suggested that they had been working on an agreement with the Brazilian for months even before the summer transfer window had been opened.

However, the Nerazzurri missed out in the end, as Juventus were able to swoop in and make a move for the 25-year-old after selling Matthijs de Ligt to Bayern Munich for a large fee.

The failure to sign Bremer robbed the Nerazzurri of a key target who had been identified as ideal for their backline, although they also responded by keeping hold of Milan Skriniar, whilst the team as a whole continues to have a strong spine as ever.

“Inter have confirmed that they’re as solid as ever despite missing out on some of their transfer targets like Bremer,” Meluso said, noting that “the attacking duo of Lukaku and Lautaro is one of the best in Europe.”
