Inter vice president Javier Zanetti has said that Romelu Lukaku is a devastating striker and it is very hard for defenders to stop him, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Speaking during an interview with Calcio.com, Javier Zanetti talked about the Belgian striker in glowing terms and expressed how happy he is to have him back at the Nerazzurri this season.
“Antonio Conte already knew him well, he knew Lukaku could do great things with us. We were all happy when he arrived because we are talking about a young guy with a great future ahead of him.”
He then talked about what the striker brings to the team and he focused on the physical power which makes it very hard for even the best defenders to stop him once he gets up to full speed.
“His physical power is one of his main characteristics, I put myself in the defenders’ shoes because it is very hard to stop him.
“Every time he got the ball, he would knock it long and start his run, I think he was devastating. He scored a lot of goals, but I remember one in the derby, which was very important and a great goal.
“You need everything: there are forwards with different characteristics, and it’s then up to the coach to choose the best and most appropriate position for the team.”
Romelu Lukaku joined on a loan deal from Chelsea just one year after he left Inter for the Premier League side in a €115 million deal.
Simone Inzaghi is now tasked with getting him bedded into the tactical system as quickly as possible and also up to peak physical condition.
