Inter appear set to sign Francesco Acerbi from Lazio this summer as it becomes clear that their other defensive targets will not be possible to acquire, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri appear to have decided that getting a new defender through the door is more important than waiting for a different target.

Francesco Acerbi is currently abroad for personal reasons and will be back in Italy between Sunday and Monday. He has an agreement in principle with Inter on personal terms and a dry loan has been agreed with Lazio.

The operation was on hold as Inter tried to push for either Trevoh Chalobah or Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji, but there has been no progress there on a financial level.

There is concern over Francesco Acerbi’s age and his tactical versatility but they need a new defender.
