Inter wingback Robin Gosens has said that he is waiting for the true version of himself to come back after his long injury layoff, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

The German wingback was talking to DAZN (via FCInternews) ahead of the Nerazzurri’s match against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico and he discussed the tough time that he has been having.

He arrived at Inter in January having missed almost the whole of the season with a serious hamstring injury and he was not fit to play until the final weeks of the season.

A small knock in pre-season also hindered his preparation for the new campaign where he is supposed to be the primary starter on the left wing but he has been dropped for Federico Dimarco at the Stadio Olimpico.

He admitted that it has been the hardest year of his career and he is waiting for his normal self to be back.

“The truth is that last year was the most difficult year of my career. Against Lecce it had been almost a year since my last starting appearance.

“I’m improving, I’m working hard and I’m looking forward to seeing the ‘real’ Robin. And I’m sure he’ll be back soon.”
