Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has completely closed the door to the possibility of defender Milan Skriniar leaving despite the longstanding and widely-known interest of Paris Saint-Germain.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri CEO has made a point of taking the 27-year-old off the market as he made clear in his remarks before yesterday’s Serie A loss to Lazio by the team.

Inter have been reported to have all but stopped listening to offers for Skriniar in the past week or so, with the likes of coach Simone Inzaghi and President Steven Zhang having had important roles to play in determining this stance by the club.

However, it is Marotta whose strategic influence may be most prominent of all in the team’s decision, as the CEO has the broadest view of the project and has concluded that the loss of the Slovakian at this stage would be untenable at this point given all other circumstances.

The CEO is determined to keep the former Sampdoria defender who he sees as vital to a Serie A title charge, in spite of yesterday’s major setback against Lazio, and has for some time thought that the only move left to be made is wrapping up the signing of one more defender.
