Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has said that Lazio believed in their chances of winning the game on Friday night more than Inter and that that hurts, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with Inter TV after the match at the Stadio Olimpico, via FCInternews, the Inter coach appeared to bemoan his team’s attitude during the 3-1 defeat against the Biancocelesti on Friday.

“It hurts. The team had to believe more, have more determination and nastiness, then we know that these games are made of episodes. Lazio were better at believing, after the 1-1 came Luis Alberto’s euro-goal, but there was still time and we should have done more.”

He decided to then focus on the fact that Inter need to start preparing for the next game straight away as they are in action on Tuesday against Cremonese at San Siro and then there are many games in quick concession.

“We tried to play as we had prepared, against a good, strong team that believed in it more than us. Now we have to be good at analysing it, to understand the reason for this defeat in order to restart already on Tuesday in the best way.”

When asked what it would take for Inter to be at 100%, Simone Inzaghi suggested that some fitness may be missing.

“Clearly a little bit of physical condition is missing. We know we have to find strength in all the men, from time to time I will choose the best men for the match.”

The coach continued to praise his former team for the way they played, saying: “We didn’t deserve to be down 1-0 at half-time, but Lazio played a great game, they believed until the end because they are a good team that can put any opponent in difficulty.

“In the first half for what we did and created we should have gone to rest with a different result, then at 1-1 we had to believe more and turn the episode on our side.”
