Inter could complete the signing of Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi on loan on Monday as they will wait until the end of the weekend to see if Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah or Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji become available.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri will continue to assess their options over the weekend but that Acerbi could be brought in early next week.

Inter have not fully given up hope on signing Chalobah, although city rivals AC Milan look to have overtaken them in the race for the Eglishman’s signature and RB Leipzig are also lurking in the background.

Meanwhile, Akanji is still on Inter’s radar and will be considered for at least the next couple days, although with both he and Chalobah the issue is that they could struggle to convince their targets’ clubs to open up to a loan without a fee.

Accordingly, the Nerazzurri are getting closer and closer to a final decision which looks likely to be the sign Acerbi on loan, and they would potentially be able to wrap up a deal for him by Monday.
