Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni has said that Inter’s defeat against Lazio was strange but they must stay calm mentally, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.
Speaking during an interview with Sky Sport after the 3-1 defeat against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico on Friday night, via FCInternews, the Inter defender appeared to be bemused by the performance that his team put in.
The former Atalanta and Parma player explained that until the incredible goal from Luis Alberto that made it 2-1 to Lazio, the Nerazzurri felt that they could take all three points and had the best chance of doing so.
“Strange defeat because until Luis Alberto’s goal we had the feeling we could win it.”
He then decided to focus on the mental side of Inter’s recovery and talked about how they must not overreact to the fact that they have suffered their first defeat of the season just three games into the new campaign.
“We have to analyse the mistakes and restart mentally to face this championship in the best possible way.
“Certainly it is fundamental to defend all together as we did last year, keeping the goal unbeaten for many games. We are confident in our work: now we need to stay calm mentally and we will make up for it.”
