Inter legend Beppe Bergomi has said that the substitutions that Simone Inzaghi made during the defeat against Lazio did not help the Nerazzurri, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking whilst on Sky Sport after the 3-1 defeat for Inter, via FCInter1908, Beppe Bergomi explained that Lazio looked more compact and had a more definitive shape than Inter throughout the game.

“Lazio were always more compact than Inter. They never conceded depth, Inter had ball possession but sterile.”

He then turned his focus to the players that were important during the game. He picked out Sergej Milinkovic Savic and Simone Inzaghi’s plan of using Roberto Gagliardini to nullify him but pointed out that the Serbian is a far superior player and affected the game anyway.

“Lazio have the right players to make Inter’s defence difficult, they are very fast. Inzaghi put in Gagliardini because of Milinkovic’s physicality, but Milinkovic is a superior player, he was the best on the pitch.”

He then mentioned the fact that the substitutions that Simone Inzaghi during the game did not help Inter and many people have made a similar observation which has led to the coach coming in for a lot of criticism.

“Inter after the equalizer had that flare, but afterwards slowly Lazio came out and the changes did not improve Inter. Lazio’s first goal? Dimarco was late, but there is a contest of blame.”
