Inter strike Pair Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez have a lot of work to do to find their chemistry together again if yesterday evening’s display in a Serie A loss to Lazio was anything to go by.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who argue that the duo were ineffective and showed their present limitations within Inter’s tactical setup despite more positive showings in the first two matches.

Martinez was Inter’s goalscorer and showed his predatory instincts with his finish early in the second half, while the Argentine’s overall display suggested that he is no longer the junior partner with Lukaku.

The Argentine was not a major influence in the match as a whole, however, and Lukaku had even less of an impact, as the pair were isolated and unable to really bring teammates into play.

There is time for Inter’s starting strike pair to grow into the season and find chemistry with their teammates and, just as importantly, each other, as the campaign wears on.

However, based on yesterday evening’s evidence, they will have a big task ahead of them if they hope to be the force that they were in their previous two seasons together.
