Goalkeeper Andre Onana could make his first start for Inter in tomorrow evening’s Serie A clash with Cremonese at the San Siro.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 26-year-old is in serious contention to be selected ahead of captain Samir Handanovic for the match, although not because the Slovenian would be dropped on merit.

So far Onana has only played in preseason for the Nerazzurri, as Handanovic has continued to hold down the starting spot that he has had since joining from Udinese in the summer of 2012 over the first three matches of the season.

The captain would not be dropped per se for tomorrow’s match, but coach Simone Inzaghi is considering whether it would be the right opportunity to hand Onana his first start as the Cameroonian gets blooded into what is expected to be a role as Handanovic’s long-term successor.
