Inter are set to rely on their attacking plan from last season for as long as striker Romelu Lukaku is out with a thigh strain.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi is prepared to put his trust in Edin Dzeko and Joaquin Correa as the Belgian recovers from injury.
Lukaku had started all three of Inter’s opening Serie A matches, entailing perhaps the most visible change from last season as the 29-year-old formed a new kind of partnership in attack with Lautaro Martinez than either Dzeko or Correa had last time around.
Many aspects of the team’s style of play built on the foundations of last season, but there was a very different focal point in the form of the Belgian.
However, Lukaku is set to miss at least one or two matches after picking up a thigh strain, and so Inzaghi’s plan is to use Dzeko and Correa in a similar manner to last season and rely on well-established patterns whilst the Belgian is forced to miss out.
