Legendary former Inter, Lazio, and Atletico Madrid striker Christian Vieri believes that for as much of a top player as current Nerazzurri striker Romelu Lukaku is, he cannot express his capabilities without full fitness.

Speaking on his Twitch channel, as reported by FCInter1908, Vieri gave his thoughts on the condition that the Belgian needs to be in in order to find his best form.

Lukaku will be out for around a month with a thigh injury which will delay his progress in the Nerazzurri, but the early signs for his return based on his first three matches back have been mixed.

The 29-year-old has shown that he knows how to be the focal point in attack and can still finish or find his strike partner Lautaro Martinez adeptly, but particularly against Lazio, his movement and engagement of the Biancocelesti’s defenders did not seem to be as incisive as they needed to be to break the backline down.

Vieri stated of Lukaku that “He’s physically a tank and needs time in order to really get to his best. Under Antonio Conte he was on fire. When he’s not physically fit, he suffers a lot and so it’s hard for Inter to get the best out of him.”
