Former Inter forward Antonio Cassano believes that the loss of Ivan Perisic is not an absence that the Nerazzurri have managed to make up for yet.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, Cassano gave his thoughts on the impact of the Croat’s loss in the Nerazzurri’s team, whilst he also suggested that coach Simone Inzaghi is too tactically inflexible.

Last season Perisic had been virtually everpresent in the Nerazzurri’s team, and his consistent displays on both sides of the ball gave the team a real reference point on the left side of the pitch.

So far, the likes of Robin Gosens, Federico Dimarco, and Matteo Darmian have been far from replicating what the 33-year-old had brought to the team prior to his departure for Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer.

Cassano analyzed where the Nerazzurri are at following their 3-1 Serie A loss to Lazio, stating that “Against the Biancocelesti, Inter had a lot of sterile possession but created no chances. The players were slow and listless.”

“Lazio could have scored three goals in the first half, Inter started to play their game after equalizing and if Dumfries’s header had gone in we’d be talking about a different match,” he continued.

Cassano said that “Bastoni does not convince me. Brozovic has to grow in form quickly for the team to grow, but if Brozovic doesn’t find his best then Inter will struggle even though I think they’ll come good in the long run.”

“Without Perisic, Inter have a big void on the left,” he continued. “Gosens has not been what we expected. The biggest problem is Bastoni, for me he’s overrated and I also see Skriniar as still off his best physically, and distracted.”

“His strong point is attention, but he looked sloppy in his positioning,” he said of the Slovakian.

Of the coach, Cassano said that “Inzaghi had an excellent season last time around, but he should start to change things up tactically. The three-man defense will never change, in my opinion he will opt for a tactical change in attack.”

“For example he could switch to a 3-4-1-2 system, inserting a player like Calhanoglu or Mkhitaryan between the lines,” he added.

“But I don’t think he’ll change that much, he ‘s always been like that in his career. Inter playing differently from Conte needs to help Lukaku, Inzaghi has to work for the Belgian to be helped
