Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is still hoping to convince club President Steven Zhang to sanction a loan move for Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi, and could make his feelings known after this evening’s match against Cremonese.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the coach could take his press duties after this evening’s Serie A match as an opportunity to publicly speak about the situation in defense.

Zhang looks to have decided against green lighting a move for sign Acerbi on loan, a deal that had looked all set to go ahead, as he does not want to add the 34-year-old’s salary to the wage bill.

Inzaghi is reportedly frustrated by this as he has long been expecting one more defensive signing to be made to reinforce the depth in the back three and replace Andrea Ranocchia, and would have been happy with Acerbi.

The coach is still trying to persuade Zhang to finally give the ok on a move for Acerbi, as are the club directors, and the coach is hoping that his good relationship with the President allows him to be persuasive.

It is very likely that when Inzaghi speaks to the press after his team face off against Cremonese at the San Siro this evening, he will be asked about the defensive situation, and he could decide to answer honestly and send a message to Zhang before the transfer window closes.
