Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is very unlikely to switch to a back four system in defensive from his customary back three formation, even as he has shown a willingness to adapt and experiment with his tactical approach.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the coach’s evident willingness to make changes will not shake his faith in the back three system.
Inzaghi has long been associated with a formation containing three defenders and wingbacks, and as fluid as the actual positioning and roles of the players can be, he has always trusted the system both at Lazio at Inter.
The balance in midfield and attack can change, as can the allocation of duties across the backline, and the coach has shown to hesitation at using substitutions and tweaks to the team shape depending on the opposition and situation.
However, as far as the backline goes, Inzaghi has long been building his tactical ideas around a strong foundation with the back three system at its core, and so he is very unlikely to stray too far from it except temporarily.
