Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is happy to be a part of Inter and that he can play an important role in winning trophies with the Nerazzurri.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after his team’s 3-1 Serie A win over Cremonese, a match in which he scored the Nerazzurri’s third goal, the Argentine reflected on what playing for Inter means to him.

Martinez was not in the starting lineup to face Cremonese as Edin Dzeko and Joaquin Correa led the line in place of he and the injured Romelu Lukaku.

However, the 25-year-old came off the bench during the second half to score his third goal of the season and his third in three matches, a well-taken effort into the bottom corner after latching onto a pass from Nicolo Barella.

Of the amount of rotations that had been made to the team from the starting eleven that lost to Lazio on Friday, the striker said that “We all want to help the team and each other, and the coach decides who plays.”

“It’s up to us to give our best when called upon,” he added.

Of his mentality, the Argentine said that “I’m working well, I have confidence. When things are going so well you have to take advantage of that. I’m very happy to be in this big club.”

And of heading into the first Milan derby over the weekend against defending champions AC Milan, Martinez said that “What happened last season is of no to interest us anymore, it will be a very tough match. We work every day so that we can keep focusing and moving forward.”
