Inter’s squad depth has already been put under a microscope very early on in the season thanks to some unexpected injuries within the team.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who suggest that the Nerazzurri are already being forced to rely on the full range of options in their squad in order to get important early results.

Inter will have to rely on the likes of Joaquin Correa and Edin Dzeko from the start in attack due to an injury to Romelu Lukaku who will be out for around a month, whilst Valentin Carboni could also be given opportunities and the system could be changed with a midfielder moved further forward.

Moreover, the early injury to Henrikh Mkhitaryan already deprived coach Simone Inzaghi of one of his options very early on in the campaign, even if only for a couple matches.

The coach is already having to face the reality of players being absent for important matches, something which is likely to continue to affect the team given the packed fixture schedule in view of the World Cup.

The ability of the squad as a whole to remain strong and consistent through rotations and unexpected absences is likely to be tested more than ever in this unusual season, and Inzaghi’s clear predilection to make use of all five substitutions available to him only further puts the bench to the test.
