The reluctance to sign Francesco Acerbi on loan before the transfer window closes suggests that Inter owners Suning are serious about enforcing financial targets and won’t hesitate to force a big sale next June.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri owners look to be likely to be ready to demand that at least one, and maybe two, big name players are sold by the end of next June within the financial year.
Inter had been expected to make a big name sale this summer in order to meet the goal of a net profit in the transfer market, but plans changed with circumstances and it has been widely reported that they have pushed the sale back to next June, as the end of June 2023 is when the fiscal year ends, the actual deadline for a net profit.
The club look to have prioritized going into this season as strong as possible, in order to make a big push to win the Serie A title, even if it means finishing this summer transfer window without having met financial goals set at the start of the summer.
However, the owners appear to have vetoed the idea of moving for Lazio defender Acerbi on loan as the final signing of the window as they do not wish to see the 34-year-old further burden the wage bill.
This suggests that Suning are ready to use their influence as the club owners to limit the spending even if it goes against the wishes of the coach and club directors.
Looking forward, this would seem to foreshadow the Nerazzurri owners’ intentions for next summer, and it seems unlikely that they will hesitate to make sure that a big transfer fee are brought in on the transfer market one way or the other.
