Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is likely to have to deal with a couple of days of biting his nails with uncertainty over who will stay, go, and arrive before the summer transfer window slams shut.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, who highlight the coach’s situation as he will not really know what his final squad will look like until the transfer deadline passes.

Inzaghi looks to have gotten his wish to keep Milan Skriniar and Deznel Dumfries despite transfer interest in the pair from some of Europe’s elite, although even this is far from certain especially given the lurking interest in the former from Paris Saint-Germain.

It will remain to be seen whether the coach is given the last piece of the defensive puzzle that he’s requested, namely Lazio’s Francesco Acerbi who the Nerazzurri will need the go-ahead from President Steven Zhang to complete a loan deal for.

Meanwhile, the whirlwind interest in Inter wingback Robin Gosens from Bayer Leverkusen and the transfer links to a number of replacements add further uncertainty in the wingback position, a key role in Inzaghi’s tactical thinking.

Once the window closes and the dust settles, Inzaghi can finally begin planning for the rest of the season knowing exactly who he has to work with in each position for the rest of the season, or at least until the January window, but until then he can hardly feel certain of anything.
