Inter striker Lautaro Martinez feels that the team did well to respond to the setback of losing to Lazio on Friday by beating Cremonese 3-1 in Serie A yesterday evening.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the 25-year-old gave his reaction to the match and also spoke about his form as he heads into the derby against AC Milan along with the rest of the team.

Inter are in a hectic period in their early schedule, and they can hardly afford to either dwell on defeats or celebrate victories too much as the matches in their fixture list are all so close together.

The 3-1 loss to Lazio came as a major blow, but now it is already behind the team after they managed to overcome newly-promoted Cremonese by the same scoreline, whilst Martinez managed to score his third goal in three matches to continue his strong start to the campaign.

“It was important to get back to winning ways after the defeat in Rome and we did so, deservedly,” the striker said. “I’m happy for my goals, but the important thing is that the team wins.”

“Then, if my goal arrives, all the better,” he added. “I’m happy to be able to help my teammates.”

“I always try to improve along with my teammates and the staff every day,” the 25-year-old noted, “I’m happy about the moment of form I’m going through and today it was important to redeem ourselves after the defeat in Rome, so I’m very happy about the win.”

“Now we prepare for the derby,” Martinez went on, “which is very important.”

He called the clash with Milan “A game that everyone is waiting for, we must all be united, we have this week to prepare and think about what we’re doing and also correct mistakes, so that we can arrive at that match in the best way possible.”
