Inter’s backup forwards proved that they are there for more than just emergency depth or substitute appearances with their performances in yesterday evening’s 3-1 Serie A win over Cremonese.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who praise the duo of Edin Dzeko and Joaquin Correa for turning up to fire the Nerazzurri to a comfortable victory in the absence of Romelu Lukaku.
Inter will have to cope without Lukaku for a few matches after the Belgian suffered a thigh strain, and so they will be back to relying on the attacking options that they had from last season.
Dzeko and Correa showed that they can lead the line well and find the back of the net with their performances, inspiring confidence that even without Lukaku as a focal point Inter look as strong as ever in attack.
Lukaku should be back within a few weeks, but the team may not miss him as much as some had anticipated.
