Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti believes that Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella is ready to find his best football and prove to be a truly top-level midfielder.

Writing in his column in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, Sconcerti highlighted the 25-year-old’s display in yesterday’s 3-1 win over Cremonese, and also noted the increasing influence of Denzel Dumfries in the Nerazzurri’s style of play.

Barella had a muted start to the season, failing to demonstrate his best form apart from in a few flashes here and there, and the pressure was on him as much as anyone to deliver and fire his team back to winning ways against newly-promoted Cremonese.

The former Cagliari midfielder delivered and then some, with a goal and an assist only the tip of the iceberg of a performance that was full of confidence and energy and which demonstrated the impressive range of his technical abilities.

Sconcerti writes that “Barella, if he finds consistency, approaches the level of top European players. Today he’s already an unstoppable player in terms of his movement, ideas, and ability to execute them.”

He also had a note about another Nerazzurri player, stating that “Dumfries is becoming Inter’s extra man, for the power with which he manages his role on both sides of the ball.”
