Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has drawn level with legendary former Nerazzurri captain Giacinto Facchetti in the club’s all-time goalscoring charts with his strike against Cremonese yesterday.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who note that the goal, Martinez’s third of the season, was the Argentine’s 77th in all competitions for the Nerazzurri since joining in the summer of 2018, the same as Facchetti scored across his career.

Martinez started the season level with legendary former Inter striker Adriano in the club’s all-time goalscoring charts, on 74 goals, and he’s now surpassed the Brazilian as well as his countryman Diego Milito, who scored 75 goals for the club.

With his next goal the 25-year-old will surpass Facchetti and draw level with the 78 goals scored by Aldo Serena, although he is still some way from the tallies of former Inter strikers such as Christian Vieri and Mauro Icardi.

Martinez is in hot form as the team heads into the derby against AC Milan on Saturday, and he will be looking to quickly make further headway into the Nerazzurri’s all-time goalscoring charts as the season goes on, whilst also helping the team to compete on all fronts for trophies.
