Inter could sign recently-departed Borussia Dortmund defender Dan-Axel Zagadou on a free transfer if President Steven Zhang is not convinced by signing Francesco Acerbi on loan.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert, who reported live on air that the Nerazzurri could go after the 23-year-old as an alternative to Acerbi, and that he would even be available after the end of the transfer window.

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is still trying to convince Zhang to approve the investment in the wages of Acerbi, with a loan deal already agreed in principle with Lazio and with the 34-year-old and his agent.

However, there isn’t much time to get the deal done, and the President remains skeptical, so the Nerazzurri could miss out if he does not green light the move tomorrow.

However, Zagadou could represent an opportunity on a free transfer, and could be signed even after the transfer deadline given that he is out of contract with Dortmund, although he also has a number of other clubs interested in his signature.
