Inter were offered Barcelona’s Jordi Alba but they needed to sell Robin Gosens if the move was to materialise, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport today, a major transfer story at Inter appears to have come to a close ahead of deadline day as Jordi Alba is not set to become part of Simone Inzaghi’s team.

The Spanish left-back was offered to the Nerazzurri by intermediaries on Wednesday but Inter were never going to add another player with wages like his without first sealing the sale of Robin Gosens to Bayer Leverkusen who had shown a serious interest.

The fact that Barcelona would have paid half the wages was not enough for Inter to accept the suggestion.

Bayer Leverkusen did not go beyond the offer of just a loan for Robin Gosens and Inter would only be interested in a full sale.
