Italian journalist Luca Marchetti has explained that almost all of the money that Inter have spent on transfers has come from the permanent deal for Joaquin Correa, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during his column for Tuttomercatoweb, Luca Marchetti broke down the finances of Inter’s transfer window as it draws to a close.

He mentioned how Inter have actually only spent €28 million this summer and of that, €24 million can be accounted for by making the deal for Joaquin Correa permanent after the year that he spent on loan with the Nerazzurri last season.

“Inter have spent slightly less than Lazio, despite (in fact) almost all of the spending money (24 million out of 28) being precisely for Correa.”

He then went on to explain how Inter needed to create money by selling off fringe players and youngster stars who do not currently have a role in the first team such as Cesare Casadei and Andrea Pinamonti.

“The queen of the June market with the arrival of Lukaku, especially in the last few days, had to watch out for assaults on Skriniar and Gosens.

“Inter had to cope with economic necessities and managed to subsidise the market (still lacking that plus sign that the ownership had asked for) with the disposals of players who had in fact never (or almost never) worn the Inter shirt in the first team (Casadei, Di Gregorio, Gravillon, Pinamonti).

“The arrivals are all technically on loan (or on a zero-parameter), spending around 15 million this year.”

He then added that next summer there will be obligations such as the purchase of Robin Gosens.

“Of course: next year there will be obligations (including that of Gosens) but Inter end up with the same team as last year, which came within a whisker of the Scudetto, with one less Perisic and one more Lukaku. And with even more solid alternatives. As long as there are no surprises today.”
