Bari sporting director Ciro Polito has said that Simone Inzaghi only gave the approval for Eddie Salcedo to move on loan to the Serie B side at 15:00 on Thursday, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with the official channel of Bari, Ciro Polito explained just how late in the day the deal for Eddie Salcedo to join them on loan was done.

“A prospect like Salcedo has also arrived who, although young, already boasts 60 games in Serie A, and who the coach Mancini wanted in the last Azzurri internship, a really big statement.

“At 3pm the approval of coach Inzaghi arrived and we managed to complete the transfer.”

He added the player seems to be full of energy and is very determined to be successful in Serie Ab with Bari.

“The boy is very charged up and determined, he did not hesitate to accept our offer also by virtue of the splendid show that the San Nicola offered against Palermo, a show that broke through, a show that all of Italy talked about thanks to our fans.”

Many clubs have been in the running to make a move for him this summer and in recent weeks it seemed as though he could go to Hellas Verona.

He spent two seasons on loan at the Gialloblu between 2019 and 2021 and he played in 38 games for them. He only managed to find the net three times. Despite that, they could be set to add him to the squad for depth given they have had a very poor start to their first campaign under Gabriele Cioffi.

Eddie Salcedo has also been on loan at Spezia from Inter in the past where he scored 12 goals and did not score. He is now 20 years old.
