Milan mayor Beppe Sala has confirmed that the public debate on the new San Siro stadium will begin on September 19, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Fiba Fan Zone for Eurobasket 2022, via FCInternews, Beppe Sala was asked about the timeframe for the public debate which is yet to take place on the new stadium and the demolition of the existing one.
He confirmed a start date for the project and added that he thinks everything is happening according to schedule when it comes to the new home of Inter and AC Milan.
“It will be September 19. It seems to me that things are definitely on track at this point.”
The clubs are known to have been growing impatient with how long the entire process is taking from a bureaucratic standpoint. There have been added delays such as the takeover of the Rossoneri by RedBird Capital Group from Elliott Management which put the stadium issue on the back burner.
