Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has said that the clash with Inter will be important and decisive for both of the teams, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by FCInternews, Thomas Muller discussed the upcoming Inter match after his side’s 1-1 draw with Union Berlin in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.

He did not talk down the importance of the match given it is the first group game of this season’s Champions League and it will be vital for both teams to get off to a winning start.

“I hope for a better result than against Union, that’s for sure. It will be a very important and decisive match for both teams. In a group stage like this, the opening game is simply very important for the feeling and for the rest of the walk, for not being under pressure.”

The group also contains Barcelona which makes the need for a win on Wednesday even more apparent.

Thomas Muller also talked about how he has played at the San Siro a few times and he is impressed by the history of the location, even if it is not very modern.

“I have been able to play a few times at the San Siro. It’s not the most modern stadium, but I was there as a spectator as a child and I am still very impressed by the history.”
