Inter defender Matteo Darmian has said that it is hard to make a comeback when you concede goals as they did against AC Milan, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with Sport Mediaset, via FCInternews, the Italian defender did not hold back in his criticism of the Inter defence after they conceded three times against AC Milan in the 3-2 defeat on Saturday evening at San Siro.

He explained that it is very hard to mount a comeback when you are already conceding very soft goals in the manner that Inter were.

“When you lose you have to put your face on it, especially after a derby like that. We have to improve, there is time to do it. We were ahead, then we failed to do what we did in the first half and found ourselves two goals down. If you concede goals like that it becomes difficult to overturn.”

The next team that Inter face will be even tougher than AC Milan as they have got a clash against Bayern Munich in the Champions League for the first group game of the season.

The German champions are the favourites to top the group and Matteo Darmian says that Inter will try and redeem themselves.

“Let’s put this defeat behind us and understand where we went wrong in order to improve in the future. With Bayern it will be an important game, we can redeem ourselves.”
