Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has returned to Belgium in order to continue his rehabilitation after a thigh injury, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

As has been reported by Sky Sport Italia, via FCInternews, the Belgian forward has returned to his homeland in the hopes of improving the speed and quality of his recovery from a thigh injury.

The injury so far has forced him to miss the 3-1 win over Cremonese and the 3-2 defeat against AC Milan on Saturday evening.

The player is only expected to be in Belgium for a few days before then returning to Italy and the decision was taken with the club rather than just by the player and his entourage.

The hope within the club is that he could be at Simone Inzaghi’s disposal again before the international break at the end of September. He is therefore set to miss plenty of matches.
