Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti has said that he did not understand why Edin Dzeko did not start for Inter against AC Milan on Saturday evening, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As was said by the journalist whilst writing for Corriere della Sera, there were some confusing selections made by Simone Inzaghi for the 3-2 defeat against AC Milan.

He took issue with the fact that Simone Inzaghi chose to partner Lautaro Martinez with Joaquin Correa rather than Edin Dzeko as he feels that the Argentine does not have the soul for these huge matches.

“I didn’t understand the absence of Dzeko in Inter, Correa doesn’t have the soul for these matches.”

Edin Dzeko came on and scored for Inter to make it 3-2 but the Nerazzurri could not find a way to get an equaliser.

He also picked out some other Inter players such as Denzel Dumfries who did not impact the game in the way that Simone Inzaghi would have expected them to.

“The other absentee was Dumfries, nervous and unable to understand his game between Theo and Leao. But the most talented, Barella and Calhanoglu, who were dominated by their direct opponents, were especially missing.

“Inter were almost all in the difference of Dzeko, who single-handedly put the game back on track and pushed Lautaro into the game.”
