The Italian media have highlighted the fact that there was no handshake between Hakan Calhanoglu and AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez before the Milan derby on Saturday night.

As has been reported by L’Interista, there was a flash point between the two teams before the match at San Siro had even kicked off.

As the players were doing their handshakes after the Serie A anthem, former AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhangolu declined to shake Theo Hernandez’s hand. The Frenchman tapped him on the back of the head, which Hakan Calhanoglu then did in return on Theo Hernandez’s back.

Words were clearly then exchanged between the two as the teams wielded away to take up their positions.

Hakan Calhanoglu joined Inter on a free transfer last summer after he chose not to renew his deal with AC Milan. Various comments in the press mean that he is not a popular figure in the Rossoneri dressing room.
