Former Juventus and Roma midfielder Zbigniew Boniek believes that Inter’s Champions League group this season will be very competitive and dramatic.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Rai Radio, the Pole gave the view that all three of the Nerazzurri, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich are likely to beat Viktoria Plzen, meaning that the head-to-head clashes between the trio will be hugely important.

Inter drew what is widely considered to be the “group of death” with German champions Bayern and big summer spenders Barcelona, with all three European heavyweights very much hoping to reach the knockouts.

Viktoria Plzen can be a further stumbling block for all three, although Boniek feels that it is clearly down to the big three teams, and that the head-to-head matches could prove to be very important, with the Nerazzurri kicking off their campaign by hosting Bayern on Wednesday.

Boniek gave his analysis of how the group could go, stating that “Assuming that everyone wins their matches against Viktoria, the matches between Inter, Bayern, and Barcelona will be fantastic. It will be a tough group.”
