Inter striker Edin Dzeko will be one of the few players in the Nerazzurri’s squad who knows what it’s like to prevail against the seemingly impenetrable fortress of tomorrow’s Champions League Bayern Munich.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who note that the Bosnian had played a key role in Wolfsburg’s 5-1 demolition job on the Bavarians in 2009, a key win in their improbable ascent to the Bundesliga title.

Dzeko is expected to start for the Nerazzurri tomorrow after his excellent substitute appearance in the derby against AC Milan over the weekend, and he will bring with him a lot of experience, including against tomorrow’s specific opponents.

The 36-year-old announced himself to many with his key role in Wolfsburg’s 2009 Bundesliga title, and his brace in a 5-1 win over Bayern was one of the highlights of his time with the Bundesliga club.

Now, the Nerazzurri will be hoping that the former Manchester City and Roma striker can role back the years and once again put in a memorable display against the dominant force in German football.
