Italian journalist Paolo Condo believes that Inter will have to prove that they can get a result against Bayern Munich this evening in their Champions League group stage opener in order to send a message in their group.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Condo gave the view that at least a draw against the German champions at home will be vital to securing a foothold in a very tough group for the Nerazzurri.
Inter open up their European campaign this season with a match against a team considered to be one of the most formidable in Europe in the form of Europe.
Things won’t get much easier for the Nerazzurri, as after a trip to Plzen to face Viktoria which won’t be straightforward in itself, they will have to matches against big summer spenders Barcelona, who are flying high to start their La Liga campaign so far this season.
A result against the Bavarians could set the tone for a hard-fought qualification from the Champions League “group of death” but anything less could already put Inter perilously close to missing out on the knockout stages.
“Considering that they’re playing at home, Inter need to take at least a point,” Condo argued. “In their group they start behind Bayern Munich and Barcelona, so the The Nerazzurri must immediately send a message to the other teams.”
