Lautaro Martinez was the one Inter player who looked up to the occasion in yesterday evening’s Champions League loss to Bayern Munich in the view of Italian media.

The Argentine received a passable grade of 6/10 in the player ratings for the match published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who name him as the one Nerazzurri player who really competed with the German champions.

Martinez lacked the technical level to make anything concrete happen in the final third but at least unsettled the Bayern backline with his energetic running.

The 25-year-old’s strike partner on the night Edin Dzeko received the same grade as him, as did substitutes Stefan de Vrij and Matteo Darmian, who along with goalkeeper Andre Onana kept the scoreline from getting embarrassing.

For the Gazzetta, wingbacks Robin Gosens and Denzel Dumfries were worthy of just 4.5/10 scores for performances in which they never really got in behind Bayern but allowed the Bavarians plenty of space to attack.
