Inter wingback Robin Gosens feels that the transfer rumours linking him to Bundesliga team Bayer Leverkusen towards the end of the summer transfer window were exaggerated by the media.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, the 28-year-old dismissed the seriousness of the transfer speculation involving he and Leverkusen, and said that he feels that Inter back him fully.

Reports that Leverkusen had met with Inter to discuss the possibility of loaning Gosens emerged during the last couple of days of the transfer window at the end of last month.

Further reports suggested that the player could be amenable to the move and that Inter were listening to offers, but in the end nothing came of it as the German team were not willing to make an offer that the Nerazzurri would accept, and the former Atalanta wingback has stayed at Inter.

“The news got a bit exaggerated by the press,” Gosens said of the links. “I don’t want to say more about it. I feel the full belief of the club in me.”

“I’m coming off the back of a season that was very messy, I was unfortunate with injuries,” he added. “I take advantage of every minute I an, these matches are good for me, even if my legs feel it after ninety minutes.”
