Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that his team did very well to earn an important victory against an opponent who are not easy to beat by winning 1-0 over Torino in this evening’s Serie A clash.

Speaking in a press conference after the match, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach gave his immediate reaction to his team’s late win over the Granata, praising his players including goalkeeper and captain Samir Handanovic.

Inter needed to wait until close to the end of their match against Torino to break through with a winner, and this was a reflection of how well the visiting team played, at times overrunning Inter in midfield and never really letting up their organized pressure.

Inzaghi’s team had their rhythm disrupted and found it very difficult to find any fluency or tempo, but they did eventually start to push harder and speed up the pace when they had the ball over the course of the second half, finally finding a winner through Marcelo Brozovic.

Inzaghi called it “An important victory, which we desired a lot. We faced one of the toughest opponents but the guys worked as a team, suffering together. As a coach, I’m always pleased to win games like this. Handanovic was excellent as were his teammates.”

He continued that “It’s important, because we came from two defeats against top opponents, the last against the most intense team in the world in the form of Bayern Munich who are very strong.”

“I’m happy for the guys,” Inzaghi said, “for the Curva that was with us from the first minute to the 95th, and it was a great sign for the guys.”

He noted that “Last year our win over Torino was very similar, it’s a Torino side that prevents you from having brilliant performances. The thing I’ll take from today’s match is the team’s determination.”

Asked what was discussed in the big team meeting held earlier this week, the coach responded “Nothing in particular, we talked. We’re Inter and we have the obligation to do our best.”

“When we lose we talk about it a lot but we talk within the club every day,” he noted, “we all talked together. It was a constructive dialogue.”
