Legendary former AC Milan, Real Madrid, and England coach Fabio Capello believes that even with the mixed start that they’ve had to the season, Inter are still the favourites to win the Serie A title.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in the SportWeek insert in today’s print edition, Capello gave the view that the signing of Romelu Lukaku can still push the Nerazzurri over the edge in the Scudetto race, even with the impact of the departure of Ivan Perisic.

Inter are only four points off of Atalanta at the top end of the Serie A table despite losses to Lazio and AC Milan early on in the campaign, whilst they are in and around all of their major rivals.

The Nerazzurri will have to find form and put losses behind them if they are to keep up and really mount a title charge, but Capello believes that they have everything that they need to do so.

On the favourite for the title, Capello said that “Inter remain the favourites, even if they lost Perisic and Lukaku is injured. Lukaku is the best signing of the transfer window.”
