Current Atalanta and former Inter, Genoa, and Palermo head coach Gian Piero Gasperini feels that Jose Mourinho did an excellent job building the Inter team that won the European treble and is also doing very well at Roma now.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after his team’s 1-1 Serie A draw with Cremonese, Gasperini gave his thoughts on Mourinho ahead of his team’s trip to the Italian capital to face the Giallorossi next weekend.

Mourinho is now in his second season with Roma, with the Giallorossi his first team back in the Italian top flight after he had departed from Inter to join Real Madrid immediately after winning the Champions League with the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2010.

The Portuguese coach had established a very strong reputation for himself within the world of Italian football based on the work he did at Inter, and he is now building on that again with his Roma project, and Gasperini feels that he is doing a good job of extending his legacy within Serie A.

“Mourinho built a very strong team at Inter,” the Atalanta coach said. “And I must say that he’s also doing something fantastic at Roma, even just in terms of the enthusiasm that he’s brought. He’s improved them a lot.”
