Inter are hoping that striker Romelu Lukaku will not be called up for the Belgian national team’s two Nations League fixtures scheduled for the upcoming international break.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri are instead hoping that the 29-year-old is given the time off to rest and recover from injury, or at least used minimally by Red Devils coach Roberto Martinez.

Lukaku is still out with a thigh strain, and it is yet to be seen whether he will be back in time to face Udinese in Inter’s final Serie A clash before the international break at the end of the month.

The Belgian could also be fit to be included in his national team’s squad during the international break, and has been conferring with Belgium’s medical staff recently, although Inter are hoping that the priority will be for him to rest up so he is at his best for the fixtures after the break and for the World Cup.
